About me

Hola, I’m Jaime García-Vaquero Mateo, welcome to my portfolio.

I’m an industrial designer led by function, clarity, and the value of well-crafted work. My practice lives between strategy and making — thinking, defining, and building.

I work across industrial design and creative direction, with a focus on how products, services, and experiences can quietly improve everyday life. I value simplicity, usefulness, and meaning.

Work

My work revolves around creating innovative and functional products that meet the diverse needs of athletes and enthusiasts.

Each project showcased at work index reflects my dedication to a deep research, understanding human interaction with objects, while exploring different creative concepts.

From initial concept sketches to the final product, my goal is to design equipment that enhances performance and helps individuals achieve their personal best.

I’m currently working as Design Director, leading product development with a strategic mindset and a hands-on approach. I collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to shape ideas and turn them into tangible, meaningful solutions within the Padel industry.

Petate

Alongside my professional work, I run Petate — a personal project rooted in craft, process, and experimentation.

Petate explores multiple disciplines: handmade furniture, pattern making, apparel design, and analog photography. It’s a space where I work slowly and intentionally, driven by curiosity and a love for materials — whether it’s wood, fabric, or film.

Each piece or image is part of an ongoing exploration of form, texture, and everyday function. Petate is where I reconnect with making — no screens, no rush, just process and presence.

Petate is a [spanish] slang that stands for backpack.
To me, It’s also a belief towards products, towards a different kind of thinking. From someone that meditates things quite much, but the right things. It’s part of my journey. And it has become a prjct that allows me to explore different object categories.

It’s a sense of belonging.
It’s through research and recreation.
It’s without commercial constrains.
Coz it is just my contribution.

All the objects showcased here are designed and produce by myself at my atelier. If you’re interested in contact for any inquiries, please, do not hesitate to reach me out.
